recetly i bought tarantula as a new keyboard, to replace my old generic 101 key logitech board.
i really needed a good board, with good capabilitys, and macro support
had to make a pick between a g15 or tarantula, bought the last one for two reasons, first size (just cant fit a g15 to my sliding keyboard tray) and second it looked better - a truly nice design.
but alas the board dosn't really confront my needs, why are the macros limited to 8 strokes? a lot of users have pointed this out but nothing has changed.. is it seriously SO IMPOSSIBLE to change this with new drivers?
second thing that is really bothering me is the huge glowing razer logo, i mean, there SHOULD be a way to turn the led off, from the config utility or something .. its just annoying!
and third the gui of the config utility needs some serious makeover, its just not user friendly at all.

i am almost ready to dump this board and go buy a g15 instead, even if i have to buy a new computer desk to fit it!!

razer being a gamer oriented company should atleast hear out what gamers want and needs and make improvements to there products not just IGNORE us.

there have been posted tons of suggestions what should be changed with tarantulas software on various sites like razerblueprints etc.. and last driver update was on may2007 - and it only resoved some driver issues!

atm the buisness model of "lets make something and sell it for a lot of money and hope everyone is pleased with it since its razer and not provide any support for it" is getting the reputation of razer down bad.

WE WANT LONGER&MORE COMPLEXED MACROS!!

Hey guys i have purchased the Tarantula keyboard and the DeathAdder mouse and i have 1 issue that i hope you would be able to help me with. When using the headphone/speaker connection on my Tarantula keyboard i get a slight buzz in the speakers. When i connect my speakers to my pc directly it goes away. Is this an issue with all the keyboards or is it just mine. Thanks for any information you can give me.

hey, thanks for the speedy response. Also, i agree with you 100% about not wanting to look down at the keyboard during gaming. However, it shuold display things not on screen like in the event you are up late and wanna kno what time it is without minimizing ur game, u just look at ur handy dandy LCD on the keyboard. Of couse you wouldn't put game vital information on the LCD because that would be stupid having to look back and forth constantly. But just a peek at what time it is can be very helpful. Or it can display system properties like cpu usage. idk just a thought (not that helpful, but cool). also, if ur listening to music it can display the song and track info etc. (also not THAT helpful, but cool) Other than that, i agree with you as i would not wana take my eyes of the screen to check how much ammo/ health etc. i have. so yea, just a thought, u didnt really understand me the first time if u thought i wanted a LCD to put the HUD of games. just some more simple info like the date, time, and any other simple things that ppl might want.

thanks again and pls reply

PS. ^^^ i too was wondering about the battlelight or w/e its called. pls tell us some info on that lke where to get it, price, release date, why its not even mentioned on razers site, any info u got
thanks

Could we please get an update on the Battlelight? Last info was June 14th, it's another 3 months. It's one thing to not have it ready for production at time of release, it's something else completely to ADVERTISE it on the box, continue to advertise it, and still years later not have the add-on. I have to admit that I was surprised that the keyboard was not completely back-lit, but I have kept it because of the quality of the unit. What I am still waiting for is the light. I have even gone to the extent of buying a cheap $10 USB notebook LED light and plugged it into the USB 1.1 ports (I don't use them for anything since they aren't 2.0).

Please keep us informed. To be honest, I think a good show of customer service would be to offer them at a discount or for free to those that have actually requested them as they were promised such a long time ago and were a partial reason for the purchase. At the very least you should have an "available soon" or "in development" on your packaging and not advertise a product that is not available.

Since I'm the Razer employee who monitors the blog and since the comments in my blog represent my thoughts and opinions, I guess that I am the right or only person who can reply. That said, from what I know the vast majority of keyboard owners who we interviewed before and during the Tarantula project couldn't find enough value while in game competition to warrant the additional expense of a LCD or even a really cool OLED for this product. Gamers told us that they did not want to take their eyes off the monitor and that such a device was not essential to gaming needs and could also wind up as a distraction. Using it for the time or as a caluculator for example in Windows was redundant to the info that already appears on the monitor.

I'm not saying that this is set in stone that Razer will never look at embedding this into a future product or perhaps a BattleDock accessory however there are no immendiate plans in progress for either at the moment. Thanks for your suggestion thought we will take it into serious consideration as we do with all customer suggestions.

Cheers,
Razerguy

hey its me again, just want to make something clear. I know that i mentioned the G15 a bunch of times and i really believe that the tarantula is better. If i absolutely needed the LCD i would have gotten the G15. It just seems that this would be a perfect use for the battle dock and would make for a cool and useful accesory (especially if it displays the time). The clock functioning would be my favorite part if this was made so i would love that to be included. Also, being able to see the song name and progress of the track would be quite cool. Thanks again and please reply.

hey all, i just wrote an extremely long comment but appearantly got the "security code" wrong (idk how, lol). what a waste of time... ok tho... to summaraize i just purchased my tarantula about a week ago and i love it. I was debating between this or the G15 but chose this as it is just a better functioning gaming keybard. I was never really interested in the battledock and it didn't really sway my descsion at all. However, being that i have it on my keyboard, i might as well make use of it. I was wondering if any other products besides the battlelight and battleeye were going to be released. I suggest some sort of LCD display (like the G15). This display customized to view simple things like date/time or what song is playing. If that fully functional LCD is not an option for whatever reason. I would LOVE razer to make a little clock for the battledock (ie. the battleclock :D). It is ALWAYS a pain to find out what time it is while gaming. I am either forced to minimize, or look across the room at a clock that i don't have such a good angle at. I realize i can just put a clock on the desk or whatnot, but how much cooler would it be on the keyboard. Of course id rather have the fully functioning LCD like the G15 but if it would cost too much or just be too hard to make at this stage of the tarantula, the clock sures seems like it would be easy to do and im sure would satisfy many people. Please respond. I would really appreciate your comments, especially Razer employees. Thank you.
