  1. Kevin Says:

Hey were you running this under Windows Vista? I heard Razer has great support for there full product line under Windows Vista. I heard the drivers were all complete and solid with no beta software. I also heard that new gaming sound card of your rocks with the drivers you have…….. wait I’m sorry I’m confusing you with the company that actually cares about there customers and supplies drivers. Sorry about that.

  2. jaz Says:

You guys say on your website that with the death adder - white colored mousepads offer the best tracking. When will you guys be releasing big white mouse pads (bigger then the mantis line would be nice)

  3. Patrick Says:

Drool…Can I have all of them?

  4. sdsd Says:

    Worst french guy ever.

  5. Krawler Says:

you guys need to release us hardcore gamers an Ultrapolling Device Pad (like the Wolf King)
I cannot believe you guys havn’t developed and released one yet… u could really control that part of they keyboard industry if u did..

    PLEASE MAKE ONE!!!!

  6. Razerguy Says:
We are revising the Barracuda AC-1 estimated beta-date for Vista-32 drivers to April 2nd (from May 1). We do not make excuses for delays in providing Vista drivers for our products. We do apologize for any inconveniences these delays cause our customers.
  7. frorath Says:

Theo is incorrect or or he is presenting a lie.
razer isnt the only company that offers a 1000 mhz polling rate.
creative lazer fatal1ty does that also.
I know since i have both that and a deathadder.

  8. Eugene Says:

Sighed if i stay in united states i gonna buy all kind of razer stuffs… too bad theres none in malaysia ( ASIA COUNTRY )

  9. Morginator Says:

The latest firmware update gives the g5 a polling rate of 1000 mhz. Switched back to other brands due to no vista support on my Razer products…

  10. Jason Fernandes Says:

Im really attracted to French guys!

  11. Nexu Says:

Haha, he doesn’t seems to know what infrared is. But he sure knows what boothbabes are.

  12. Neeraj Says:

My new Razer Copperhead and latest drivers v6.09 works fine under Vista (32bit Home Premium) when run installed as administrator and run under Windows XP compatibility mode.

  13. Kevin Says:

April Fools! Look no AC-1 Vista drivers yet, guess I was right about it being a joke. They even re-did there front page and took off any mention of there release date for Vista drivers. So maybe by May we’ll see a AC-1 BETA driver and then in another year to a year and a half we’ll see the final driver. :) Way to go Razer keep up the great work.

  14. yam90 Says:

I agree with you Kevin… I guess it was a joke?

  15. Maliki Says:

April 2nd is here but dont see the Vista beta drivers or any mention of them on the site for the AC-1, bought ten cards for customers pc’s all custom rigs with Vista installed and here Im sitting on a loss…
“We do not make excuses for delays in providing Vista drivers for our products.” I cant find any info on the site for an eta for vista drivers and as far as excuses go I cant make any for my customers either but at least I keep them informed with whats going on…….

  16. Rudy Says:

Yeah its April the 2nd and I am refreshing my page on the Vista drivers on RazerZone and it looks like the whole vista driver page is down, just showing new products. Hmmm is Razer going to make us happy and release drivers for our Barracuda soundcard today or be like creative with their empty promises of vista drivers for their soundcard!

  17. Kevin Says:

Maliki they have an ETA and that’s it and they missed it big time. It was today and I see no drivers, guess Razer really is full of hot air. They can’t even offer a reason when they don’t deliver. Razer FTL!

  18. Kenny Says:

So yea, i’ve had no sound on my PC for over 2 months now waiting for Razer to get these released. I’m now outside the return policy from the place of purchase. Is it possible to get a refund directly from Razer? I’ll just go back to Creative.

  19. yam90 Says:

You can use C-Media beta chipsets for a while… go to razer blue prints forum for info about it

  20. Kevin Says:

yam90 thanks for the suggestion but I’d rather use the product the way it was intended to be used. Razer could just quit yankin there customers around and produce a good driver.

  21. Kevin Says:

Man look at that, they delayed the drivers again. This company is the worst I’ve ever seen, there worse than politician they can’t keep promises that requie the release of a beta driver. You know Razer, instead of making it perfect (it’s a beta) make it available I think we’d understand that there was bug’s in it. At least it would work to a degree. So let me guess when you say April 10th, you’ll lie again and say April 20th then it will become May and then June. And after that when will we see a final release, $1000 says you then don’t get a final driver ready for another 10 to 12 months. This is pathetic, why did I buy this crap?

  22. Razerguy Says:
It appears that many of you assume that developing Vista driver support is like building a structure where you know exactly how long it will take to construct every brick and mortar of that project. Many companies larger than Razer such as Sprint and Verizon are struggling with the same issues and are probably taking similar heat from their customers.

When we announce a delivery date that date is our best guess for project completion. If that date fails it is not because we are lying or incompetent; it is due to unforeseen delays or testing conflicts.

Our policy is to launch driver betas that are nearly perfect so that you won’t spend needless hours debugging your systems.

As always we do apologize for any convenience that these delays cause you and rest assured that we are working night and day to deliver products and services that support the community needs.

  23. Poopingfish Says:

I know you guys want to be known as good service and good products, while sometimes overpriced you stand to your name.
But i think at this point some people just want sometjhing that works, period.
People have been using drivers from other cards to atleast get these working..

  24. Kevin Says:

So Razerguy were are the AC-1 Vista drivers, I see new drivers for your mouse line up. Did the beta’s not live up to expectations? Do I have to go another week without sound drivers? Great job again, why is Razer even releasing beta drivers, they clearly miss the concept of a beta. It doesn’t need to be perfect, it just needs to work and in the end customers would be able to help your engineers test them and get the fine tuned faster.

Stick to one thin Razer, your good at mice and you should just stick with what your good at. It’s obvioud this sound card will fail, Razer doesn’t have the desire to give it the support it needs.

  25. yam90 Says:

Today is 10 April and i don’t see anything??

  26. Bobby Says:

To everybody who is running vista: just install the latest xp drivers by changing the compatibility to xp sp2 mode and it works flawlessly….

Give Razer a break… They make the most advanced products i have ever used, you just have to know how to use them.

  27. yam90 Says:

Now i have to agree with Kevin again. you removed the “April 10″
    http://razerblueprints.net/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=99&topic=6190.0

Seems like the moderator doesn’t want any more posts.

  28. CroCop Says:

Don’t know about you guys, but I’ve downloaded the new 6.10 vista drivers for Copperhead, and I still have the same “No mouse detected” problem… Anyone else with the same problem?
Second question: I’ve tried to put new firmware, and the proces seems to go ok, but in the razer panel it is still written Frimware version N/A. Is it normal or not?
    Thanks!

  29. Nexu Says:

To add to the list of the companies struggling or struggled with getting proper Vista support out: NVidia.

But not the same subject: where is the Linux driver you guys talked about releasing back in 2005, more specifically for the Diamondback? Right now it does work. But having only 5 of the 7 buttons working, can hardly call that proper functioning as it was intended.
I hope you guys would do the best of your abilities to make up on that promise as it’s long overdue.

  30. Kevin Says:

I refuse to use older drivers just to get something working. There is a reason there called Windows Vista drivers. They perform better and will have less stability issues. I should know, NVIDIA’s drivers don’t work well as it is, what would happen if I used XP drivers. Also, I wrote a customers says article telling users to be aware of the lack of Vista support and they never published it. Guess they want to shut up the unhappy comercials.

Don’t tell me to use Windows XP drivers and don’t tell me to be patient. I’m done any ways, this HD Audio on my Motherboard is starting to grow on me and I’ve already sold my AC-1. I’m done with Razer and I wish I’d never bought these. Razer FTL!!!!!!!

  31. Brian Says:

Im trying hard not to go down the same lines as Kevin, as its a little OTT. All I am concerned about is that you were confident enough to bring the ETA forward, and ’something’ happened to force you guys to miss the ETA. That I can deal with. What I can’t deal with is the post being reverted back to the April 2nd post, and no further communication.
The ’something’ that happened could have been explained to us, which would have been the reason for the delay, and we would have understood what is taking so long. All it needed was a bit of info, and for techs to stop saying ‘rest assured, it will be coming in the weeks ahead’. That bites as there is an unlimited number of weeks ahead, and it has already been 16 weeks since Vista was made retail, forgetting RTM to create drivers.

  32. Josh Says:

I have to agree with Brian here. All we’re looking for is a little solid communication.

  33. Razerguy Says:
At Razer, we are committed to the development and support of all of our products. During the development of Vista drivers for the Barracuda AC-1, we have encountered some obstacles in enhancing the driver to take advantage of all the abilities that Windows Vista has to offer.

We had originally intended to release the Barracuda AC-1 Vista driver on April 2, but due to unforeseen circumstances, the driver has not met up with our standards. Our engineers have tried to establish a new release date for the driver, but have been unable to pinpoint exactly when the driver would be up to standard.

Currently, our engineers are attempting to ironing out issues with the driver’s interface and the output coming from the rear speakers on multi-speaker system arrangements. We’d like to extend our thanks to all the Barracuda AC-1 users that have been patiently waiting to migrate their systems to Windows Vista. We promise to provide another update about our engineers’ progress within the next two weeks.

  34. Brian Says:

Well, thanks for the reply RazerGuy. I must admit I dont think this is my doing, to see a comment here, and the Vista Update page with ‘finally’ a decent explanation of the situation too, that was a bit shocking.

I have sent nice tickets, annoyed tickets, and very very annoyed tickets. One post here on the blog and a full dual-angle reply is offered to everyone - a big shame these posts weren’t made 2/3 weeks ago.

Fingers crossed there wont be anymore unforeseen delays, and I am hoping for a v1.0 Vista32 driver.

  35. DPGX Says:

I’ve got to say at this point I’m pretty frustrated as well. I have gone back to a competing product because it works under Vista, but the sad part is I also own the Razer Headphones, and they sound nowhere near as good on the other product… I just want to be able to use my razer card but am pretty disappointed that a month past the projected release date we still have nothing. Not trying to create a flame war just expressing my concern that I have 300 dollars in hardware here that i really cant use.

  36. Brian Says:

Its OK, just a few more days till one of two things happen. Either we get a driver, or another ETA. Personally I think everyone with an AC-1 would like the driver. I wont even tempt fate of no response. Also, being from the UK with current exchange rates, I have $430 of equipment I cant use…

Also to RazerGuy, sorry for hijacking this thread of the blog, but we didn’t really have any other option left to us….

  37. Kevin Says:

Look all Razerguy is doing is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. I bet we won’t see a Vista Driver by the end of May, heck their original driver was suppose to be out by May 2nd. Sorry but I can’t except such lies, they sit there and say unforseen delays, they can’t give ETA’s because they can and won’t keep them.

  38. Josh Says:

Well it’s been 2 weeks. No communication. Sweet. I especially love the new Beta driver site. If only for the lack of beta drivers there. Kind of hard for us to help with the development of the beta driver when we don’t have access to it.

  39. Brian Says:

Im in shock….. This was the response to my comments about not giving us the answer we have waited 2 weeks (and 4 months) for.

    Quote {Hi there,

Thank you for your kind understanding and patience.

Our driver developers are already working on a Vista supported driver, however
we are unable to provide a date for its release at this point in time.

    For updates, please visit http://www.razerzone.com/microsoftvista/.

    Thank you for your patience.}

ARE YOU BRAINDEAD???? I give up…………….

  40. Razerguy Says:
Sorry, I’m fresh out of wool.

The Vista driver for the Barracuda AC-1 is operating on our test machines, but the user interface is not properly manipulating the controls as intended. Although the driver is operational, it does not provide the level of support and functionality that will allow users to fully take advantage of the Barracuda AC-1 and the Vista operating system. Our engineers are making the necessary adjustments and we will update you as soon as the driver goes to our Quality Assurance department for the final level of testing. We thank you for your patience and support as we ready the driver for its impending beta release.

  41. Beau Says:

Well, it is now June 5th and still no sign of even a Beta AC-1 Vista driver. I’ve called, I’ve reasoned, and I’ve even pleaded for some reasonable responses to no avail. I simply recieve the same resonses, “We do not have any information on the AC-1 Vista drivers at this time sir, but please check back on the website for more information.”

This is a terrible way to treat customers.

  42. Damaelyon Says:

I am agree with that. I just bought a AC-1 and just see there is no Vista Driver. I don’t think it is a very good way for Razer. :(

  43. Robert Says:

I’m pretty sure this will be the last razer product I purchase. Even the mods over at razerblueprints.com are telling people to avoid this card. It’s absurd that we’ve had to wait so long for these drivers. Razer should let us return these cards for refunds since they’re selling a broken product and giving no support for it.

  44. Kevin Says:

Do what I did, sell your card and wait. There are some very nice alternative around the corner that look 10x better than the AC-1. I’m through supporting a company with this kind of support. They clearly don’t know what they got them selves into and don’t know how to properly write sound drivers. Bogus!

  45. yam90 Says:

I remember in February I have sent an email to Razerguy he said a beta driver will be released in 1 month. Now 5 months have passed.

  46. Haanz Says:

isn’t the point of beta drivers meant to be unfinished?

sure, people would love to recieve full control of their card, but get that unfinished driver out there right now. limited sound is FAR better than no sound.

  47. Beau Says:

That’s what I thought beta drivers were for, to test the drivers and work from there… Apparently razer has no clue how to release or create drivers, so give us what you got, and we will tell you how to fix them…

This predicament has passed rediculous about 2 months ago. This is absolutely the last razer product I EVER purchase. I have bought and reccomended many razer products, now its just gone too far! TERRIBLE customer support.

Razer has forgotten the number one consideration in a business….the customer ALWAYS comes first!

  48. chrouf Says:

this mousse it’s the evolution and i love my mousse DeathAdder

  49. Razerguy Says:
    Beau and other VALUED customers;

We realize just how frustrated you are after all the delays in delivering Vista drivers for the AC-1. Many of you have stated that we are lazy, or inept and Beau suggested that we don’t care about our customers. These simply are not the case. Our most recent buglist, based on the latest driver build we’ve received (yesterday):

    1. MIC in, Line In and Aux In are no longer in the GUI.
    2. Balance Volume, CD audio and main Volume, not working in the GUI.
    3. Razer ESP does not function at all.
    4. DTS Neo PC does not function properly
    5. Mic Vol does not function / show properly
    6. Bass control does not function properly
    7. Dolby Pro Logic II does not function properly.

These aren’t little bugs; they basically represent a non-functioning driver even for a beta release. We have another build coming our way later this week, which they think will clear up a few of the bugs. If it’s anywhere remotely close to being releasable as a beta, we will.

We do appreciate your support and have been working as hard as humanly possible to rectify the situation. Believe me that this situation has nothing to do with not caring about our customers. You are always are most valued and important people and we will never turn our backs on you.

  50. Arash Vahdat Says:

I agree with a previous post that RAZER should allow all the customers of the AC-1 sound card to reurn it for a full refund.

    Dear Razerguy,

Put yourself in our position- you are a consumer and purchased a product from a company that promises to have it working on a new operating system. You keep the product thinking it will work great on the the platform with the new drivers. 1 month passes by and your return policy runs out with the product you bought and also on top of that the Drivers are still not available and you have not even taken the card out of the box. though when you call the company says we are working on it,, u wait..

Another 3 months passes by … still waiting???

please reply to my post .. i would love to know what you would say ..

” we are working on it and please be patient” ???

  51. Beau Says:

Thank you for finally giving us a valid response. The problem however, does not arise at the fact that there are no working drivers. It is, in my belief, that after such a large delay after the numerous ETA’s we should have recieved this sort of responsemuch earlier, and with more frequent updates. I’m almost positive that it doesn’t take more than a couple of minutes and to reassure your customers/AC-1 owners of what is actually going on. That is all I am asking for. If there is a problem and the drivers are not functioning….well, hey, you guys are the experts, so I trust your decisions. As long as you continue to announce the progression of the drivers with more frequent updates (at least bi-weekly) then I am more than satisfied.

You say that you do value the customer base, and you most definately should…but keeping the customers in the dark for such a large amount of time just isn’t right, and will most likely cause upset owners.

I am impressed on one part though, I never really expected a response with answers.

  52. Haanz Says:

    Awesome.

Now we just need either Razer or Microsoft to quit passing the blame off to each other and offer some support for the Habu - like where to send it if I want a replacement who’s wire is not faulty. There needs to be some sort of meeting to discuss who handles support, because Razer send you to Microsoft and Microsoft don’t even acknowledge it’s existance in customer support.

  53. Razerguy Says:
First off I must say that a weblog is really not the proper forum for individual issues. I really hesitate posting some of your comments related to service and support issues. These would be best handled by contacting our online customer support team through these pages. If you feel the need to express yourself to me or feel that support has not handled your request to your satisfaction please email me directly at razerguy@razerzone.com. I will be more than happy to respond and help wherever I can.

To Arash, my reply is that there was never any implicit promise on our site, in our documentation or anywhere else to support any future operating system. Yes, we have been aware that the Vista operating system was coming and as you know we have been working on them for months. Unfortunately their are monumental problems and conflicts in the audio area for Vista and every soundcard manufacturer has had their share of problems. It is not our intent to misrepresent our products or to mislead our customers in any way. If you or anyone else wishes to discuss this in further detail please contact me directly via email at razerguy@razerzone.com.

To Beau, I couldn’t agree with you more and we will hopefully learn from this experience and be more forthcoming as needed in the future. I’m hoping for another update in a few days.

  54. Rich Says:

I have owned this product for 5 months and been unable to use it. I have set the vista drivers page as my home page in case there is an update.

What caused me to go from frustrate to irate to downright furious was the lack of information whatsoever. This last post was very nice to see and I thank you for it, but you stated we should contact customer support and not post here. I do not believe there is one person posting here that hasn’t tried contacting customer support. I also do not believe that there is on person posting here who didn’t get the SAME CANNED RESPONSE to his query.

So, thank you again for the update. At least we can hope that a driver is forthcoming instead of expecting to read that it is no longer supported.

  55. Kevin Says:

The end of June almost and you still have that many bugs in your sound card drivers? Name a company Razerguy having problems with Vista drivers this far in? ATI, very stable driver but needs some work for the 2900 series for all OS’s. NVIDIA, again much better and they function quite well now with few to no bugs. Creative, don’t own one any more but from all my friends and postings on the net it works quite well and at least they get sound. Auzentech, again they have working Vista drivers. Intel, imagine that they have working drivers as well.

I just named every big company out there, two of wich are the other big sound card producers and they seem to have no issues. So whats your reason or excuse now? Seriously, it’s no wonder I sold my AC-1 you guys really are a joke and love to make excuses to please the customer. Great you gave us the state of your drivers, here’s what I want to know, why is it that you guys are flopping when Creative and Auzentech have sound cards supported in Vista?

  56. Razerguy Says:
Incase you didn’t see the update on our site, the AC-1 BETA driver’s ready for download.
